Recently my ping / internet is outrageous, It makes every game i try to play un-playable!
It started two weeks ago, I was playing a match in CSGO when my internet shut off (im guessing it was a maintenance for my ISP) it went off for 15-20 minutes, I've seen this happen before so it wasn't really a shock to me. Once the internet came back on i connected instantly and went back into game to find myself RubberBand lagging..I played two games like this before i went to bed. I restarted my router before i went to sleep and got back on the next day to find it happening still..A couple days went by after that and i was able to play it with only a few lags here and there..but a couple nights ago it came back at full force.

If i look at my ping in-game on CSGO it usually is around 30 which is a normal ping for me. I have 0 choke and 0 loss, so i dont know whats happening. FPS is at a constant 300. I figured it might just be a problem with CSGO that will eventually fix itself so i re-downloaded WoW and decided to hop on that just to find that my ping would shoot up to 500 and stay around that area.

I went on pingtest.net and a couple other sites that test ping and what not and all my test came back around 15 ping with 0 stitter, and 0 packet loss. I can search the web with no problem and i see no other issues with my computer. I ran hardware tests and full system scans and they all passed with flying colors. I ran virus scans / malware etc, and i have 0 threats. I even tried downloading another Anti-Virus to see if it would pick anything up but nothing came up.

My internet only craps out on me when im playing games, i DNSflushed and hard reset my router twice now..Chatted with a Comcast support agent online and they ran test on my router to find no issue and refreshed it for me.

What can the issue possibly be? I am hardwired, have Xfinity, and newish modem / router.

I feel your pain - I am on Time Warner Cable - and even with 300Mbps down, 20Mbps up, ping times vary between 20ms and 500ms depending upon the time of day - it has to do with their servers.

Sometimes using GoogleDNS or OpenDNS speeds things up....but most times you are at their mercy.

yup, had these problems a lot before. Using Cable One (yes i know, wish i could afford more 🙁 ) i get 60 down 20 up and i'm getting around 200 ping during daylight hours for most games (CoD, BattleField, WoT) and around 9 at night it will jump down to around 75 ping. I'm using OpenDNS right now and that seems to have fixed most of the problems but i still get massive (i mean 999 ping spikes, probably from packet loss) here and there but i seem to have a stable ping level around 100-125 during most of the day. The only thing i can really recommend is trying OpenDNS :) Sorry i don't have any other solutions...

Ended up calling my ISP for the 5th time and they pinged it and FINALLY found a issue with it, each time they pinged it or tested it they saw i was running perfectly with no issue and thought i was just a idiot. Still any suggestions besides having a techinition come in?
