Question High Pitch Whine from ASUS ROG X670E-F Motherboard

Hello everyone,

I've encountered a frustrating situation with my recent build. I'm dealing with a stubborn 10.5 kHz whine, which I've traced back to two consecutive ASUS ROG X670E-F motherboards - yes, the original and its replacement both have the exact same issue.

I've eliminated the PSU and GPU as potential sources by swapping them out multiple times, leaving me pretty confident that the motherboard is the culprit.

Has anyone else experienced this issue on this or similar models, even after replacements? Are there any BIOS adjustments that might help? Any other troubleshooting steps I've overlooked?

Example of noise coming from the motherboard:

Any advice or shared experiences would be very welcome.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Coil whine. You might want to take a sheet of A4 paper and roll into a cylinder, then hold one end to your ear while the other end is used to probe for the source of the noise.

Anything that has to deal with power will produce said coil whine. You could try and see if the board is pending any BIOS updates, since that has been known to remove some unnecessary load on the VRM's/componentry on the board.

Hi, i have located the noise coming from the motherboard (CPU area), i have the latest BIOS. Do you have any suggestions on how to reduce motherboard coil whine?
