Hello I hear a constant noise (like a dog whistle) from the fan of my gpu. I put gently my finger on the fan.. and once I stopped it, the noise stopped too.. Does this mean that my GPU.. is about to die? Because the last month I'm expection a LOT of bsod and sudden turn off or freeze while I use my pc... (not only gaming but also when surfing the net etc).. my pc can work for 10 mins or sometimes 1h+ and then crash... I run WhoCrushed and it tells me that there is a problem with atikmpag.sys. (Note that I have updated my ati radeon hd4300 to the latest manufacturer drivers!) Thanks in advance for helping!

Acer aspire x1700
intel core2 quad q8300 2.5ghz
4gb ram ddr2
Ati radeon hd4300
psu: (I think is:) Delta Electronics, Inc. DPS-220UB A
Output: 220 Watts

Normally we'd have you check the noise is coming from your GPU 100% and not the PSU - Coin Whine from a PSU is a much bigger issue. Since it sounds like you've identified the culprit, we can skip that step.

A GPU whining isn't always a bad thing (pain in the ***, absolutely, but more often than not, harmless). In your situation, considering you're experiencing BSOD and freezes etc, I would be concerned your fan for your GPU is no longer cooling adequately (hence the system is shutting down etc to "save" the GPU).

The BSOD however and the atikmpag.sys seems to indicate a driver issue. See here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1998368/bsod-amd-atikmdag-sys.html for a potential solution to that element.
