But if I want to buy a 1080 ti for a pc build and the price is about to be Similar to that of the titan x, eehhhhhhh. If this continue I'll go with amd and buy the rx580 or even rx vega 56 to save money

You might as well just do as you said and grab an inferior GPU just to wait longer or cope with the ridiculous prices, it's your call, really.

Yes you should.....if the price is right.
Personally, I think waiting is the best option, but it will be a few months (2-3 at least) before you'll find a good deal.
Nvidia is scheduled to release its new series of flagship card in mid-april. By that I mean a GTX 2080 (name might be different).
They also promised to do something about the gpu shortage.
Rumor has it, that they want to divide the market in order to alleviate some of the pressure from gaming cards, by giving miners exactly what they want: Cards that are best suited for mining

I sincerely hope that AMD follows in and does as Nvidia does, because if they dont, they are not only screwed, but us consumers are screwed as well.

Well neither an RX 580 or vega 56 is even close to the power of a 1080 ti and both of those cards are well over MSRP especially vega 56 which is quite good at mining. In the US vega 56 is selling for upwards of $1000 and it performs about on par with a 1070 depending on the game. The RX 580 is selling for anywhere between $650 and $750 and it performs about on par with a 1060, a few months ago you could get a 580 for around $250.

The GPU market is really messed up right now, you wont get good value buying really any modern GPU at the moment. Unfortunately my recommendation is just don't buy GPU's until the prices come back down, no idea when that will be.

Not when the inferior GPU's are going for more than double their MSRP. Vega 56 and the RX 580 are especially ridiculous purchases at the moment. They are very good at mining and tend to be even higher over MSRP than nvidia cards.

It depends on where you live however. I know that prices in the US are especially horrible, it seems that the US and Canada markets are hit the worst.
But here in my country, an RX 580 starts at around 470 euros.
This is still pretty bad, considering only 1 month ago it was around 350 euros, over 100 E in difference.

Prices are at an all time high, but in some countries its even worse.

Look for a bundle that includes the gpu you want.
Newegg and microcenter have created bundles to keep the miners from dominating the market.
