[SOLVED] High resolution or high refresh rate for single player?

Hi! I'd really welcome some advice. I'm getting a 17" laptop and have a choice between 4K at 60Hz or FHD at 144Hz+. I know normally this would be a no-brainer for gaming but I only play single player games such as Skyrim, Don't Starve, Witcher 3, Dishonoured 2 etc, and all advice seems to be centred towards competitive gaming. Which option would you recommend for the most visually stunning experience? You can assume here that the hardware is capable of easily managing either option.

I would raher have the 144hz, it is, Imho, more pleasing to the eye for movement, explosion's etc. 4k is very pretty but at 60hz the movements don't seem as smooth to me. Again personal preference.
