I have been using a DSL service with DLS modem for a while. I used Netgear FVS318G router with this and worked fine so far. Recently I changed my internet service to a cable company and I am getting 60 Mbps download speed, unfortunately coming through Netgear FVS318G router I am getting around 17 Mbps speed. I checked the settings, called Netgear and the conclusion was that this router support maximum of 17 Mbps. So the choice I have is to replace the router.

I did some search on available routers and confused on which one to buy.
I need gigabyte LAN speed ports. Need LAN-WAN throughput to minimum of 50 Mbps.
Currently I have 7 devices on this router, so 8 port router will be preferable but I can live with 4 port and install a switch to support remaining devices.

Appreciate any suggestions on the router.

Most decent routers can support this, and have gigabyte wan ports.

What is budget and how much sq ft of house do you need wifi coverage for?
Do you want dual band (2.4 and 5.0 ghz). Most medium end and up devices from the last 2 years have started to put in dual band radios.

Thank for the info. I checked this router and this will work. The next thing is to find a capable 8 or 12 port switch so I can have all my devices connected. Any suggestions?
