I am extremely confused so I installed a noctua U9S on my I7 11700F and I followed the instructions applied enough thermal paste and tested my temps with cinebench. Day 1: 80c is my average in cinebench so far I'm happy because my case is smaller and was reaching 100c with the stock one. But day 15, 88c on cinebench. Ok this is weird so I dismounted the cooler, cleaned it properly and saw a video of good thermal paste application and boom again low temps 80c average on CB23 and after 2-3 weeks I'm here today at again 90c and I have no idea what's going on. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is that the noctua fan is not aligned with the back fan so maybe it I raise the height of the fan a little bit but other than that I have no idea what's happening .I would appreciate some advice

which thermal paste are you using? how old is it?

All screws well tightened?

fan speed always similar?

always check the temperature after 20min under load
I used the paste that was included with the cooler probably like 2 month old, I always max the CPU fan speed. Temps after 20m are lower so it goes to 88c and after 20 it goes to around 81c. My ambient temp is also always the same 21c

Did you remove the foil under the cooler ?

Did you use the correct Intel socket 1200 mounting kit?

Is any gap between the CPU and the cooler?

check the fan speed, maybe it´s not at full speed all the time

motherboard´s BIOS is up to date?

Yes I removed a hard plastic cover it had, I used the lga1200 kit it's really tightly screwd and no thermal paste leaks so i assume it's pretty tight so probably no gap and I installed the latest bios I have an Acer desktop so I have all the drivers up to date

how did you update the drivers? Acer update tool?

to have a look if you even have a problem :
run userbenchmark.com and post the http link of your result, e.g. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/28977730
yes acer included a software that checks for drivers and i remember windows updated my bios if you go to updates there is a tab that has like additional updates for your pc so i updated everything, here is the test: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/63683555

The Noctua web site shows the NH-U9S as a mid-range option for the 11700F (two green segments on the dial) and an NSPR of 96. Three green segments would be better.

Personally I would've fitted a bigger dual tower cooler with two fans, if I wanted to keep the CPU temperatures down to an absolute minimum.

I'm running an NH-D15 on an AMD 7950X and it sits at 90C continuously for up to 36 hours during video rendering sessions.

Modern Intel CPUs are designed for continuous operation up to 100C. It might sound excessive but it's the new norm. If your computer doesn't crash, stop worrying about the temperatures. The CPU will self regulate and reduce the boost level when it reaches 100C.
