High temps on 920 (OC to 3.6) with p6t deluxe v2

idle temps: 40-45c
load(prime95): 80-86c!!

Are these normal temps?

What speed fan do you have on it?

The load temps are damn high.

the stock fan that came with my dark night cooler.. running on standard in the bios..

when it was running at 2.66 my idle temps were 32-36c

The odd thing is that your temps idle are perfectly fine. Its just your load temps that are off.

Yeah, i popped the cpu hsf off, looked for burns etc.. and the AS5 compound was spread evenly. So i cleaned off the AS5 with alcohol whipes and then i reseated and reapplied the as5 as i did before.

Also running prime95 on all stock settings (2.66-2.8) was 65-70c. not sure if this helps.

Where is your pc sitting? (floor or on a desk)
What is the temp of the room?
Trun off Turbo in the BIOS.

Turbo shouldnt swing that much... but i guess you could try it. Turbo only heats up one core aswell.

What are the temps of the other cores?

The Cpu voltage seems to be a bit high at least compared to my system. I have the 920 d0 and my cpu voltage is set at 1.25. at that setting my load temps are 40c-45c idle and 67-75 at full load running prime95. I'm also using realtemp like you

those load temps are way too high. you should check any settings that may affect that, or maybe you increase the voltage of the cpu

No kidding. That's what we have been discussing.

well, increasing the voltage may cause that. also what thermal paste did you use? the stock one? you should ty taking the mobo out and try to install the heat sink again. apply thermal pasta again and check, maybe its something wrong with the way you installed it. it must be sit properly on top of the cpu for full contact.

also, take a careful look at the setting on the Bios, maybe there is something enable that its doing this.
