so when I'm gaming with pretty stressful games my computers temperature for the cpu averages 90 degrees Celsius, my gpu averages 100 Celsius, and my main board averages 80 Celsius. i've never seen any computer running this hot but i haven't had any problems in the last 2 years (as long as i have owned this laptop) or any issues with lag. could the program (iobit) that monitors the heat be off? or is this normal for a laptop running games like the witcher 3 on ultra settings?

Those are pretty high temps for a desktop, but from what I know laptops can handle higher temperatures. You are running one of the most graphically intensive games on ultra settings, so that could explain it. Try turning down the settings and maybe increasing the fan speed of your laptop if you can.

This is The Witcher 3 we're talking about, and on ultra, so it's going to get hot. Real hot.

But yes, PLEASE do take off the back and clean it out and see if the temps don't get better. Don't forget to get into those turbine fans and get the grub out of there too. 100C is usually the self-shut-off point for any computer, laptop or desktop, so that's really not safe.

Also, if you're getting 100C with the laptop sitting on a bed, or on the couch, or on the carpet, that's probably why. While gaming, you should probably have it elevated on a hard surface, or better yet, point a small fan at the bottom or run one of those laptop cooler things.
