Hi, today I just installed a new i3-4130 replacing my old G840 and I think the temps are a little bit high in comparison with the G840.

With the G840 I used to get 25-26º in idle in CPU and 39-41º in both cores, in charge the temps just got high but with the new i3 my temps in idle is between 36-38º in CPU and 33-35 in both cores. Both cpus with stock speedfan except for the G840 which used to be at max. rpm (2000rpm aprox.), i3 just running at normal rpm (1200-1300), Why temps are so high? My pc can crash or something for the temps if I play some heavy game?

Greetings for the community and sorry for my bad english!

Dont worry unless it reaches 70c those temps are fine. If you wanna lower them you can get better thermal paste and reseat the cpu . or get a better after market cooler or get some better case fans. But honestly those temps are fine

I have planned to play games like Far Cry 3 in HIGH and Skyrim in HIGH/ULTRA, do you really think that this games won't let the cpu reach higher temps? Should I pass a program like Prime95 to stress the cpu? I've never used this program

So its a simply and a normal thing that happens in practically every cpu? Sorry for ask so many and stupids question but this cpu was expensive for me and I just wasted all my money on this so I want to be sure of the cpu will work okay.

Now playing CS:GO all maxed and 1366x768 temps reached 56º, didnt noticed both cores, just main

Yes that is very normal under a heavy load. The max on that processor is like 100C so you're not close. I've built a computer with that same processor I think it never got above 53C but it was in a cold room at the time, I wouldn't worry about that temp.

Well but you got a cooler and an i5 which I think its hotter than an i3 even if the i3 its Haswell, am I right? Thanks for answer me so fast and all my questions!

It's just the feeling of something going wrong with the cooler or the cpu but if it works then fine.

One more question, with the G840 I used to go in CS:GO at 120fps stables but with the i3 I got 160-170 etc but I got so hard spikes and its so hard to play like this, the only component I've changed its mobo and cpu, would be a cpu problem?

Greetings

Turn on Vsync and those issues should go away will lower frames but they will usually be more stable. I have the same HS on my I5 you have on your I3 (basically) The I5s don't really run hotter by much if any heck the default clockspeed of your I3 is as high as my i5. My point is there I no need to worry about those temps they are perfectly fine, if they make you a bit uncomfortable you can usually change the fan profile in the BIOS to spin faster, but this will significantly increase the noise output.

I already changed the fan profile in BIOS to full speed and just got 3-4º lower but well, maybe its ok.

I mean, its not the kind of fps spikes you imagine, I got hard spikes like 160-170fps->150fps->170fps->50-60(?)fps (for one second, I really cant see the fps in that momment but seems like If I got lag), do you know what I mean? the typical problem with fps/lag but my network its just fine. I dont know how to describe the problem in english, Im so bad :\

So, last question, truly. No one game can stress the cpu til he reachs 72º, right?
