Hi.
I have just formatted my Sony Vaio laptop using the ASSIST button to turn back to factory settings. I was having some issues like video and audio distortions.
So far, the video/audio trouble was solved.
However, the task manager shows a CPU usage of 50% when the laptop is idle and almost 100% while I'm just browsing. The RAM memory in usage is 4,5GB and the only thing that I had installed was Google Chrome. Nothing else has been installed or done.

My Laptop system:
Sony Vaio SVS131A11X
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core i5 3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz
RAM: 6GB
HD: 576GB (40GB in usage; as I said, the only thing that I have installed was the Google Chrome

Restoring your laptop to factory settings is loading "saved settings". Sometimes to get rid of a virus you actually have to format your hard drive and reinstall the operating system. I just had to do that to remove a rootkit.

See the virus alters what you see, it can be hiding in plain sight and you may never see it.

Have you considered you might have a virus or rootkit on your laptop?

Even after restoring laptop to factory settings? Because I never had this problems before.
Other information: task manager --> "processes", no app. is using so much CPU as it is indicated by the Task Manager -> Performance.
