Gents:
Legacy system: U_12.04/AMD965/MSI-790.gd70/NV650/12-Gig ram/various HDDs./650W PS
My PS repair failed on an infamous (4 YO) Hanns-G 28" so I'm shopping a new monitor for that legacy non-gaming system. I build-my-own so parts DO get passed down... ; any guidance with my monitor decision process is appreciated.
High-value is my criteria, and I judge one of several 24"/1920x1200 providing the best-bang-for-$$$. Various models are name brands costing out at ~$250-450. Yes I know they are 2-generations old! My (#1) Xeon system currently runs a $400 AURIA 27" 2560x1440 ... I can, but don't favor spending that or more money excepting the wild-hair of risking a Korean 30" APPLE-reject and swapping monitors.
But, the value proposition starts to sink when a new system PS and vidcard are needed to complete a deal with the 30" model. So 24"/1920/1200 appears a sounder choice. Any YYYx1080 makes me gag, but mebby I should re-think!! Any comments appreciated on the soundness of my considerations.
