So recently I ran the in game benchmark in Rainbow Six Siege with the lowest settings in 1080p resolution and got an average fps of about 95. However I noticed that if I run MSI afterburner in the background leaving all the clockspeed dials at default, I get an average of 105 fps. Can anyone explain this?

Really, its not that big of an issue for that drop in frames. 95-105 fps is barely noticable with the human eye. But back to the question, i would argue that you somehow did smt with after burner and increased the gpu clockspeed. No definitive answer, but hell, at least ur getting 60+fps dude :)

Ah, but that average fps is the average of the entire benchmark which I ran multiple times just to be sure, and would have resulted in lower fps when I'd increase the graphics. Nevertheless my problem is solved. I uninstalled everything related to MSI afterburner, used Display Driver Uninstaller to get rid of all the Nvidia related software, downloaded them again and installed (uninstalling and reinstalling the normal way didn't work). Then I ran the benchmark and got atleast 110 fps which is actually a bit more than the 105 I got earlier. And yes, I did some mild overclocking before deciding to restore the original clockspeeds - which may have caused some kind of glitch.
