I'm looking to upgrade, and initially I thought I'd just add another stick of the same model for a dual channel setup, but I noticed that higher frequency sticks aren't much more expensive. So, should I get another identical stick and go dual channel, or simply replace the current stick with that of a higher frequency (as I've heard Ryzen is very frequency sensitive). What would yield more performance gains? This is primarily a gaming rig.

You really dont need higher than 3200MHz (you can manually overclock higher if you wanna).
But your Ryzen should manage 3200MHz.

The second gen Ryzen has limiting factor for ram speed, max supported says 2933MHz cause of the Fabric.
You may get "Lucky" to get higher speeds or you're gonna have to tweak it and push more voltage trough it.
