Higher Ping in Gaming

Recently I've been getting Higher than usual ping in games. It was all ok just 2 or 3 weeks ago. I still play on the same servers, same isp, everything's the same. I ran speedtests and it says my ping is completely ok. One thing I noticed is that the ping drops to the usual amount when there's not much happening in the game, like in slow motion end round screen. I've tried another internet connection as well and the problem still exists. Which leads me to believe that it's actually a problem with my PC. Any ideas on what should I do?

What to do:

Before gaming open the Resource Monitor and go to the Network tab. Watch what all is going on for awhile.

Then leave the window open but shrink it down so you can shift the window to one side or the other.

Open your game and play as usual. See what happens to the resources. Check the other tabs as well.

You may find that some bottleneck is occuring: could be due to some update, dimishing disk space, other traffic on your network....

And if nothing seems readily apparent or astray you can apply Task Manager and the Performance Monitor in much the same way.

Key is identify what app, process, or service is the cause of performance slowing down.
