Higher settings, higher fps?

My specs are i7, GT540M (2GB), 8GB RAM DDR3, with additional 24" monitor HDMI.

So when I play CSGO I set the settings to low on everything to get more FPS and I change the resolution into 4:3 with 1024 x 768 then I get 50-80 fps with avg. 62-70fps
(Yes the graphic's quality quite bad)

Yesterday I tried 16:10 1440 x 900 then I surprised because I get 60-110 fps with avg. 70-90fps.
Logically less resolution will get more performance (more fps) but my computer made exception in this case. How can this happen?

It's all about csgo, I have pretty much the same specs and changing resolution from 800x600 to 1366x768 doesn't seem to make any difference at all. Even some of the settings make no difference at all. It's just the way it works with low-end cards, it does what it wants pretty much...
