Question Highest processor my motherboard can support?

I have an optiplex 360 and in games my cpu is maxing out at 100%. My cpu is a core 2 duo E8500 and my motherboard is a dell 0t656f. Does anyone know the highest cpu my mobo can support and if it can support quad core processors?

Yeah but there are also the "high end" quad cores for lga775 like q9705 but you're more often gonna find something like q9450 and although its not as great it only has lower clock speed but has higher cache! I recommend you should go for the q9450 and as far as I know you can get it on ebay for about 20-30 usd which is pretty cheap for a cpu although used

K I think I will try a q9500. I found one on eBay for a good price. I was also thinking about getting a new motherboard, maybe an Optiplex 755 motherboard

You've about ridden that horse about as far as it can take you. I know it is hard to say good bye to an old friend but the time has come to put that fella out to pasture. And time to save up your green stamps for a new rig, something from the more current generation like a Coffee Lake or Ryzen.
