Why is it that only mini itx and full/plus sized MoBos are getting integrated wireless? Or am i missing something?

..i was really hoping the 400 series would have micro motherboards with bluetooth and wifi, but maybe the 500 series will? holding out hope atleast one company does that in the micro-ATX line-up. lets go ASRock.

You may have to wait until AMD makes Wifi support standard on at least some of their chipsets kind of like Intel has Wifi as part of the Z390 chipset. The board manufacturers seem to be looking at MicroATX as the form factor for low budget builds, and most boards in that form factor don't have a lot of extra bells and whistles like integrated Wifi.

yeh i wouldnt expect to see them on the 50-70$ budget boards but the ones that are 130-150$+ range? I wouldnt buy something for nearly triple without some serious utility enhancements, not simply "more stable overclocking, better audio quality, faster pci lanes! Most of us really dont need pci-e 4.....but we could all benefit from better wireless integration.

You may not, but I would bet the companies that sell motherboards have researched the topic and found that people do prefer these things over wireless integration, when given the choice when purchasing a midrange motherboard. Most people wanting a desktop are going to be using the much preferable wired internet and for many of those that want wireless, buying a wireless card is a possibility whereas buying better VRMs for overclocking isn't.

Wireless is seen more on mini-ITX builds because these tend to be more portable, so there's more of a benefit to integrated wireless connectivity. And ATX-sized motherboards have less necessity to pick and choose which features to cut back on.

well im glad another one could climb down out of their electronic ivory tower to explain to me why mini itx board would have it and micro atx builds wouldnt :rolls eyes: and if a wired option is so preferable for stationary PCs then why the heck would eATX and plus sized boards have wireless integration?

haha so not one company put it in there as on option? wow someone must not have made it thru business school, consumers like choices. i would have expected one of the higher end lines of board to have it like the msi mortar or the asus prime or gigabyte aurous.

like i said, i wouldnt expect every board to have it, especially not the budget oriented ones but it should definitely be an option. looks more like an oversight and a screwed up opportunity than a highly researched and thoroughly thought out decision.

As I noted, larger motherboards don't need to make as many tough decisions on what to include and what not to.

Most of these companies have motherboards with integrated wireless and know how they sold relative to their motherboards without it. It's a niche feature. Just because you want the feature over other things doesn't mean that most people also prioritize that feature.

There's no need to roll your eyes at me and throw out sarcasm about coming out of my ivory tower; I'm a journalist and have zero design input at any of these companies.

sorry bud, but if I want it, i guarentee there are 1000s others out there who want it too. you would think that one company would see that opportunity and produce a board with more actual features and utility instead of just nicer heat sinks and more m.2 ports. alot of consumers would get more out of integrated wireless connectivity than a second m.2 port and stuff like that...doesnt seem to crazy to think just one company would provide this
