HIS Brand question.

I am looking to upgrade 7970 card.

I am leaning towards this->

But I am wondering if it's a solid brand and a solid card :/

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

HIS is a good brand and it's a good card.

I've had two HIS cards, the latest being the HD7950. Both were nearly silent and ran VERY cool.

Ok thank you. I was a bit worried since my MSI TFIII 7950 went bad after 6 months :/ I RMA the first then RMA the second since it was DOA, then I was offered for an Upgrade to a MSI 7970 http://us.msi.com/product/vga/R7970-2PMD3GD5.html

I've never tried MSI, so I can't comment on their cards. The HIS cards I have are the HD7850 Turbo and the HD7950 Boost - they both kind of look like alien hair dryers. The only time I hear the fans is when I use software to run them up to about 80%. I actually had to take the side panel off my computer when I first put one in - to see if it was really running, it's that quite. The 7850 never got above 60C, (and that was with an overclock) the 7950 is around 65C. They also vent most of the heat right out the back of the computer, so everything stays cooler. You don't hear much about HIS, and I have no idea what they're like if you have to return something...but I do love the cards I have.

The noise wouldn't bug me since I am deaf eh, but it might bug my girlfriend if it's loud. Since you made HIS sound like a good brand. I'll get the card then. I get paid on Friday May 10th so hopefully the deal for those 3 free games are still available ;_;

Then I shouldn't be afraid of HIS? I like MSI but they're pricey for Lightning 7970 :/ so I guess HIS is a good choice. And Coil Whine? Is that a bad thing or it's just noise?

HIS is great from my experience. Most like Sapphire - they have some cheap cards, but also have some great ones that compete with ASUS DirectCU and MSI TwinFrozr for less money.

Just a high-pitched noise - not terribly loud. It depends on the card you get to how loud it is (not everyone in the reviews says it happens on their card). Happens when the framerate is very high, like in game menus. And if you cap your framerate, like all good gamers should, it won't crop up at all.

Before I finalize the selected answer, I need to know one hardest thing that most of us have. Choosing the right card.
