His plan or this plan? Please help, it has been 4 months!

I have a Dell Dimension 3100/E310 running Windows 7 Ultimate and 3gb's RAM.

I need a graphics card but I only have 2 pci slots and 1 pcie x1 slot.

I was thinking of getting the pcie x1 to x16 adapter and putting in the Palit GeForce 8400GS NVIDIA Graphics Card (256MB, DDR2, PCI-E 2.0)
but the card will run at the x1 speed.

I want to play minecraft and cod waw zombies will friends.

So is this plan good for my needs?

MY BUDGET: is only £65

OR should I buy the Dell Optiplex GX620 and upgrade to Sapphire 11166-01-20R HD 5450 512MB DDR3 PCIE HDMI Graphics Card



Is the first plan ok for me?

I just want Windows Aero to work and to play minecraft and call of duty waw.

If you only have PCI and a PCI 1x, the system will be bad for any games. Upgrade to a system with a 16x slot and get either a Radeon 6670 or a GeForce GT 440 if you want a cheap card for games. Just make sure the power supply is a good quality of at least 300 watts.

Both plans are not that good. But plan two is your better bet and with that plan you will probley be abe to play some of the games at very low settings and will be low FPS depending the resoulation you are using.

How ever with plan two you can up grade to a 6670 just make sure that your as stated above PSU is 300w or bigger. Good luck to you and have fun gaming.
