Historically, How are Christmas Sales?

Looking to purchase a GTX 1070 but I didn't find an ASUS or MSI that was at the price I want to purchase it for ($400 or below after tax in California). So how has sales for new GPUs historically been for Christmas? Or should I bite the dust and purchase one?

The cheapest I ever came across was $349 on jet.com I think it was asus with blower fan. Newegg had some deals for about $379 after 20-30 bucks mail in rebate for gigabyte and zotac, I'm pretty sure prices will come down on Holidays again. MSI - I think cheapest one Ive seen was like 399.
