Looking for a PSU for a budget gaming rig - ideally 550W. Seen a Corsair VS 550W for £37 but heard there crap, not sure why thoguh ha.

Solution

Don't know where you've heard that.

The VS550 is pretty solid from my experience.

Even got some light GPU overclocking on a mates PC and it's still going strong today.

The Corsair (not CM) VS series makes it into the 4th tier of 5 in terms of PSU rankings on a well trusted reference list.

Here's a 620w Tier 2 Seasonic, if this is within budget.

Just in reply on another thread about my build, someone said there "junk" but gave no reasoning so wanted to check.

Thanks but over here in the UK the cheapest is £60 so over budget really. Would you say the Corsair 550W will be fine for a gaming rig which will NOT do any overclocking just standard use with I5 Kaby Lake, 8GB RAM, AMD RTX 480 4GB

Yeah, it'll be alright. It meets requirements for your build/GPU.
