My friend has a computer that he bought a SATA 1TB Hitachi for, here's the link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145233

We're having problems setting the computer up to install an operating system onto the SATA hard drive.

We have a 250GB EIDE HD installed also, but he's installing Ubuntu on that hard drive.

I slipstreamed a driver pack into Windows XP Pro SP2 using nLite. XP saw the hard drive, it just wouldn't install XP onto the hard drive.

We then tried Vista Ultimate x64. Same problem, Vista saw the HD, it just wouldn't install the OS onto the HD.

So we took the drivers from his motherboard manufacturers website (Gigabyte) and we put the drivers onto a USB drive so that Vista could detect the drivers, and it DID detect the drivers for the SATA Controller, but none of the drivers were compatible.

Can someone help?

If you need any additional information, just ask and I will provide.
Thanks. :)

1) Find the Brand of your motherboard, and its series number.
2) Go to the manuacturers website and find the support page for your Motherboard.
3) Go to the place on tha page where it shows the Drivers listed, and usually BIOS is listed somewhere in there.

I had it easy, mine came with a program that updated the BIOS for me. Most do, now a days, so if that's the case, download the BIOS file they provide (which isnt really a BIOS file, it's a Setup file), open it and it should update it for you.

If not, then I can't help you, but I figured i'd try anyways.
