Hello, I recently (as in within 2 months ago) built my first PC using a 240GB SSD as my main and a 2TB Hitachi HDD as my main source of storage. Things have been going fine until today, when I noticed that no Steam games were working when I started them, so I attempted to test the validity of one of the installed games. That's when I noticed that the read speed started out well in Steam, but eventually went down to roughly 1kb/sec. I found a free HDD/SSD checker which I downloaded and installed. Below you will find the link to the results of both the HDD and SSD:

Please let me know if you need me to download some different software to test the drive.
 
Solution
Unfortunately, these errors indicate that there are some bad sectors on the drive. You can't really fix that and bad sectors would eventually continue to appear until it fails.

In case you can RMA it, then just do that. In case you can't, I guess you will need to get another one.
You can you this one for storing only non important data. You can't really know when the drive is going to fail. It could last for years.

Hi there flaskmaster,

The benchmark graph shouldn't really look that way.
My advice would be to back up the data stored on the drive until you sort this out.

After that, you can try something simple as just attaching the drive with different cables(both SATA and power ones) to a different SATA port and re test.( The health tab is next to the benchmark tab)

You were right on the money. And I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about the HD Tune program. All 3 of those that you stated are reporting errors. I'm getting warnings on all 3, and just those. When I was picking pieces to build this about 2-3 months ago, I grabbed this off of eBay because of it's size and price. Well, I get what I pay for. I'm thinking about attempting to reach out to the seller to see about a replacement, but I highly doubt it. Is there anything I can run or use as definite proof that this drive is shot?

Yea it is pretty bad. I would 1) see if it still under warranty. If not then 2) contact the person where you bought it.

I would never buy hard drives off of ebay ever unless new.

Also if there is no data on there you could try doing a full format. that can sometimes fix the error but with as many errors as there is i would dump the drive.
