HITACHI 53UWX10B looses sound and picture

My HITACHI 53UWX10B intermittently looses picture and sound after it has been turned on. Sometimes plays for hours and sometimes only for seconds. Turning off and back on sometimes resolves the problem. Any ideas of what I need to do to repair the problem?

Is this happening on a specific channel, or does it just happen everywhere? It may be that you have a connection loose somewhere. Check that your cables are securely connected; something may be loose or you could have a faulty cable. You may also want to check your external antenna, which you may have with a model this old. Sometimes readjusting the antenna will fix a problem like this.

Thanks for touching base Titillating. The problem happens on all channels and usually happens within first few minutes of turning on. I checked all connections and found everything in good order. The problem does appear to be electronic rather than signal. The unit had a problem with convergence about 2 years ago and I had to redo the pc board. The problem is worsening, however if we are able to get the tv to reboot and stay on it usually will last through the entire day and evening until we turn it off. I have noted that the power light stays illuminate when the television looses the pic and sound. Thanks again for the reply.
