Hitachi EA drives

Hello,

Where can I purchase the hitachi EA model drive?

These drives are available to enterprise customers I guess but why not to general customers?

Hello,

Western Digital purchased Hitachi last March. I don't find an EA hitachi HDD or either the Hitachi or WD site under consumer or commercial or enterprise products.

If you could give us the specifications of a drive you need, possibly someone could give you an even better alternative.

The EA drive has a model number starting with HTE e.g. HTE541064A9E680 ( 9.5mm 640GB 6Gb/s )

I've a storage router and looking for such drive as they are made for enhanced availability.

Hi again,

Presently there are 3 hard disk drive makers. The others, including Hitachi, have been incorparated into WD, Seagate, and Toshiba.
Here is an image of their mergers.

For availability, I'd purchase one from one of the main HDD manufacturers. If this is for a single network storage disk, or for a NAS where you may decide on a redundant solution requiring additional (the same) drives, buy from a company that will be able to supply the same drives in the future.
