So basically, I've noticed my system is slowing down, especially at start up. The PC is pretty new, between 1 and 2 years old. Not too long ago I installed my Samsung 840 EVO and was amazed by the quick startup and shutdown times. However, these times have drastically increased now. Also, finishing the startup takes way longer than normal. The desktop icons only load after 1 or 2 minutes, and my virus scanner takes way longer to start.
I'm thinking my 6 years old HDD is dying. Rolling benchmarks test with Samsung Magician tells me the following:
Sequential read: 56
Sequential write: 68
Random read: 183
Random write: 429
Now to me, these seem way too low. Could it be that my HDD is simply dying?
System specs:
Windows 8.1
Hitachi HDT721010SLA360 HDD 1TB
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
AMD FX-8320 @3.5Ghz CPU
ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0
Seasonic S12II-Bronze 430W
Thanks a lot!
