I have a Vista desktop computer with vista home basic installed on it. When I plug a Hitachi superscan supreme 21(CM2112MU) monitor into it an "INVALD SCAN FREQUENCY" is displayed on the monitor.

When I plug another monitor into my Vista desktop computer I can see my desktop. It works just fine. I would like to know how can I get the Hitachi superscan supreme 21 monitor to work with my Vista desktop computer?

Thanks
Tyrone

Set the resolution to 800x600 before swapping monitors. Once you get the monitor hooked up, change the resolution to 1600x1200, try it at 75hz, 60 is a bit low for a CRT to get a good image one. You may need to adjust the screen a bit to have it fit properly. Or you can run the monitor at a lower resolution like 1280x1024 at 75hz if the display is too small at 1600.
What resolution and refresh rate are you running?

Try to set it to 1600 x 1200 @ 60hz. If your current screen is wide screen please set it to something like 1024 x 768 @60hz instead as 1080p screens do not tolerate the 1200 pixel height.

Swap the screens and see if you get picture. If you do, you can try 1600 x 1200 @ 60 and see if it works. if it blanks out try hitting escape as that should reset the last resolution.
