Question Hitting 100 temp in cinebench r20 overclocking.

any ideas why i hit 100 cpu temp on cinebench r20 while overclocking
And 85-89 while on stock clock

Besides what @dorsai said, you're running a stress test, which is not indicative of your average daily use of the PC, and it pushes the CPU to almost max power/temp. If you're using the stock or a cheap aftermarket cooler, this is normal.

Gaming for an hour or more with a temperature monitor should give you an idea of the average temps you'll see.

Unless running it on a loop for extended periods Cinebench benchmarks, regardless of version, shouldn't heat saturate a cpu cooling system. If the OP is hitting 100c on one or even a few back to back runs of Cinebench it indicates an inadequate cooling system and thermal throttling.

What is your overclock? 100C is way to high...you need much better cooling than stock if you want to maintain that overclock whatever it is. It has to stay under 95C peak-max or you'll be shopping a new CPU earlier than you planned.

85-89C is probably about right for a 3600 on stock cooling, even with a PBO overclock although it's not achieving anywhere close to optimal performance because of that temperature.
