Wonder why the 5700 Ultra is showing extra crappy - totally trounced by the 5600 Ultra. I guess they haven't "optimised" the game for the 5700 yet *sigh*

I believe the 5600 Ultra was running HL2 in DX8 mode, whereas the 5700 Ultra was running it in DX9 mode.

Because the FX5700U CAN run it in DX9 mode, whereas the FX5600 would be embarassingly low in DX9 (like 60% of the FX5700 girues [just a guess]).

The FX5700U at least gets all the nice effects.

I would've prefered parity (everything running DX9), but this is the way that the games will actually play on people's systems.

For the hell of it I ran the Future 3Dmark with the new 53.03 drivers on my FX 5900 and got a 5606 benchMark score I don't have it posted on the 3Dmark site ( but I,m sure there are some results there on the site with the FX5900 results to the new 53.03 forceware drivers score ), because I will not pay some company to tell me how fast or good my video card should run. But I do haft to say 3Dmark has done a great job of the demo far as graphic,s and subjects. I wish they would leave it in the hands of the game companies to see how the cards of all brands perform, and notify the chip and card maker what they need to improve driver wise for the game play to perform better.

You don't have to pay to show 1 benchmark, you get one free (and can store 4 more on their site). It's only if you want to show a bunch of benchmarks that you need the pro version. Without posting there is nothing to go by.

As for game companies, they are no better. Q3 wouldn't tell us who will be better at HL2 or D]|[. They are all tools and people just need to know when to use them. The NEED for 3Dmk03 is somewhat more limited now, but considering it came out well in advance of any DX9 game it was a good tool to help expose SOME of the needs of SOME future games.

And right now game companies DO notify the card makers as to what is needed. The work together, and in nV's case with HL2 they spent more time trying to make the game work better with the tools provided. But at some point we have to remember that gamers want thing to be simpler (the promise of standards like DX9, etc.), not to involve more coding for specific hardware, for that definitely is the job of the driver builders.

In the end everyone wants the best performance out of all the components that make up a game. It benifits all those involved.

uuuhhhhhh.....38 fps @ 1024x768 on IL2?? WTF?! On my quadro dcc I can pull a steady framarate and it's 2 years old compred to these guys. LOL, so much for uber l337 video cards.

First, we're in the Graphics card forum :tongue: HEhe!

Also my mobo could accomodate a Barton so I could increase my CPU scores, but I was only interested in doing that in my first outing with GW before I realised I don't need one, and upgrading for a benchmark would be a waste. IF I did add the barton now I could probably even beat GW's overall results (he's a little mobo limited [no offence man, you even mention it

])
But I'm pretty impressed with the R9600P still OC'ing so well.

I would try it with Radclocker just to be able to push the core higher, but I reached the 5K GPU mark I wanted.

So what was that score/core you got on yours again? HAha! :evil:
