hmmm...how to beat Dagoth Ur at level one.

If I create a character with major and minor skills that have nothing to do
with what I wish to become (eg major and minor skills are mercantile and
speechcraft if I want to be a mage) then having destruction or long blade in
misc skills I could theoretically become very powerful. If I choose to drain
a skill so that it is at zero and then go to a trainer and buy that skill
from him/her for one dollar and keep doing this till I have 100 points for
that skill I could become very strong, while remaining at level one.

Problem is that in order to cast the drain spell you need a decent
destruction level and or a lot of money to enchant an item with it (about
5000).

Also not to mention the level up boost you get if you do this, if you train
skills to 100 and you do it to three of them in different attributes then
you will get x5 multiplier for those attributes upon level up.

This meaning that as long as you have sufficient health you could
theoretically rake on Dagoth Ur at level one or two!

This is a major bug in the game. But think of the possibilities...

Not much more of a cheat than turning on Auto-run, pointing yourself at a
wall somewhere, and leaving the game running overnight. If Athletics is one
of your major/minor skills, you can get many levels this way, and a
guaranteed 5x multiplier for speed. (Though only once. If you level
multiple times in a row without gaining any skills between levels, you get
NO multipliers. Yes, I have tested this.) It might interest you to know,
though, that it's possible to drain your skills without using any spells.
All you have to do is get yourself arrested and go to jail. That would
solve the problem of gaining skills and then losing them again to get more
attributes, though you still don't get any attributes until you level, so
maybe you'd need to get REALLY good at Enchant, and create Constant-Effect
Fortify Attributes items to raise your stats. Or just pay someone to make
them for you, though that could get real expensive real fast. That way you
could get killer high attributes without actually levelling. (Also, relying
on certain special artifacts, like Boots of Blinding Speed, will save you
from ever needing to boost your Speed attribute. Presumeably similar items
exist for other attributes, though I am unaware of them at this time...)

So, easy skills to choose as your Major/Minor that you know you can avoid
using enough to level...
Speechcraft
Mercantile
Heavy Armor (or Medium or Light, pick one, or two if you can be really
strict with your armor choices.)
Alchemy
Spear
Axe
Blunt Weapon
Short Blade
Hand to Hand (Hmm, maybe not if you're playing Bloodmoon. See my story
about "Hroldar the Punching Bag...")
Armorer
Marksman
Block (if you're using a 2-handed sword)
Security (if you want to depend on Lock-Splitter scrolls)
Sneak

There you go. Just stick to spellcasting and long blades, and you'll be
fine. Just avoid the temptation to read those books that are lying around.
Skills to avoid would be Athletics and Acrobatics. You pretty much can't
help but improve those over time. Sounds like fun. Tedius fun, but fun
nonetheless...

Hmm, for me, it would be much better to choose the magic skills
(except for enchantment and perhaps alchemy or mysticism) as things to
avoid. If you decided on armor, weapons and magic that you'd avoid
completely, you could arrange to never use a minor or major skill.

I would find it very hard to avoid speechcraft and merchantile as poor
relationships and being broke really limit the game. There are a lot
of options you never get if people dislike you. All my characters use
them quite a bit. Avoiding armorer would be a pain in the tush, too,
unless one went the bound weapon route.

since characters only start with ~30 to ~50 health, a single solid
daedric sword/axe stroke can kill. I doubt you could do an iron man
type game if a single attack could kill you--unless you saved and
reloaded a LOT. I find that getting past that one-stroke-kills
barrier is critical to surviving battles with atronarchs and stronger.
