Suddenly when I hover my pointer over the top of something like a
spell jewel or inventory item in my bag, the label telling me what it
is doesn't pop up anymore. Seems like it happened in the middle of
playing. Restarted the game, didn't fix it. Any suggestions?

I think there's a setting in options for something like "popup help"...
I really don't remember the name. But you could turn it on or off, and
it controlled just the sort of thing you are talking about.

Of course, thats EQ1, if you mean EQ2, I plead nolo contendere.

Why pay the shyster if he's not contesting? Reduced sentence? <g>

Bad news, Ken. When the shyster enters the plea, it is as if you yourself
had entered. The shyster is merely your agent and does your bidding. So
the result is the same but the fee is much higher.

Thanks... no, it's EQ1. I know I've seen people mention it before, but
never really paid any attention. I thought it might be something like
that, but didn't know where to start.

Hm, I've run into this a couple times. And I wasn't able to fix
it in-game (e.g., there's some option about popups, and that didn't
affect it). It turned out there was a Windoze "feature" that had
gotten turned on, that was interfering with EQ detecting mouseovers.

Problem is, I don't remember what it was. I think it was triggered
by something like holding down SHIFT for too long, or CTRL, or some
such thing, and that popped up a box with various settings, and
fiddling with the settings fixed the problem. And one of the things
I fiddled was to TURN OFF the "feature" so that holding down those
keys doesn't screw me over any more, so now I can't bring it back up
to see what exactly was involved! Still, you could try holding down
one of those keys for ~10 seconds and see what you find.

aaargh.... I should know, if there's something wrong you can't figure
out, it's probably dx. OK, at least I have a couple leads here. It's
so irritating, I had no idea just how often I used it.
