Hockey Tape Instead of Electrical Tape?

I am going to replace the CR2025 battery in one of my old gameboy games. The battery goes between two prongs, and once I beak the solders I will use tape to secure it onto the prongs (I don't have soldering tools and people have always done it this way with GBA games). Electrical tape they say is recommended but not necessary.

Being too cheap to buy some electrical tape, would hockey tape work? Is hockey tape static-proof, because I have a ton of Hockey tape I own?

I guess I'll try it. Hockey Tape is quite strong and a lot higher quality than that gist-wrapping scotch stuff. I've never felt any static when wrapping hockey sticks so it should be fine.

Hockey (or sports) tape would not be an optimal solution. Over time it will harden and flake, and may even allow whatever it's holding to migrate into areas it shouldn't. Better to use the right tool for the right job and either get ahold of a soldering pencil or electrical tape (which won't harden).
