[SOLVED] Home build pc into mac os x?

i was wondering if i can use a mac os x on a home build pc? i was thinking it's possible, i've read an articles supporting this idea.

cpu: intel i7 bloomfield 3.0ghz
mobo: asus x58 sabertooth
psu: ocz 750w
hdd: seagate 1 tb
gpu: gigabyte gtx 560ti
case:IN WIN mana blk
optical drive:lg supermulti
RAM: gskill 8 gb

Its called a "hackintosh" and it is possible though it is a hack and hence not that straightforward or reliable. You need to make sure your specific components will work with the latest hacks. A few years back I tried to install it on a prebuilt HP system and I had issues with the keyboard and mouse. If you want to give it a shot I would read a site like: http://www.hackintosh.com/ and find a place to confirm that the hardware you intend to purchase will work with the hackintosh setup.

Personally although Mac OS X is a great Operating system and I definitely think it has been superior to Windows in the past I feel that Windows 7 is a much better operating system. I actually own both a mac and a pc and although I find both a pleasure to use Microsoft seems to have finally 1upped Apple with Windows 7. Also I don't use Mac OS X lion on my macbook pro because I had some performance/other issues and decided to revert and stick with Snow Leopard.

It is really nice to be able to run both OS's however personally my next computer purchase will be a Windows based one. I enjoy being able to play with MAC OS etc. just to see how it develops but I personally prefer Windows 7. This is a recent development as I always felt OS X was superior to Windows XP and Vista (obviously since Vista was horrible)

i've been using windows for all my life. so i don't know how exactly the Mac os X works or what to expect on it. I've heard it's good against viruses, too. i plan to experiment with this and see how it goes. What are some uses for the MAC like for personal use, since i've never used one before?

I'm running OSX and Win 7 on my iMac in Bootcamp (dualboot).

Being a Windows user since 3.1 I can tell you that using Mac OSX will feel awkward here and there. It has less options to customize (for instance in your system panel) and handles some basic things quite different, like file management. While the file system is superior to NTFS, the File Manager was the most annoying thing I've ever worked with. Still not used to it.

And then you have the issue with programs that don't run under Mac OSX.

I personally enjoy running my iMac with Windows 7, 95% of the time.

If you want something different, try Linux. There are a lot of nice distributions out there.

Yup fun project I had a Leopard Hackintosh I made out of a Dell and it was better than any Mac you could purchase when I built it. Only sound drivers gave me issues and I found a work around. I will tell you it is very unlikely you can do any OS updates as every time I tried it would break the whole thing. Fun project though

gpu: fx 5600
HDD: 100 > gb
i wanna experiment with this first before going on to the actual build

I hope this will point you in the right direction. I will not recommend to buy a off-the-shelf PC, it may not work. At the tonymacx86 website you will find everything you need to do to build a "stable" hackintosh". Good luck!

As I said in my post, I do not recommend an off-the-shelf computer nor do I recommend and old PC. Again, at the tonymacx86 you will find hardware configurations which can be purchased for under $500 if you want to go that way first. Let us know how you are doing with your "experiment". Good luck!!
