I am trying to find a Dropbox-esque solution for file sync that will work between my desktop and laptops; if I add music files to one laptop, I want the files to be automatically added to my desktop immediately when I connect to my home network, and then added from there to the other laptop once it is connected to the network again. Any thoughts?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

The only other Dropbox type of Clould saving I know of is Memeo which comes with some makes of external hard disk but I think is also available generally.

Out of interest, have you tried Dropbox and found it unreliable?
