I was looking at building a small gaming server for no more than 10 people. Ideally it will be 3~5 people on regularly with 10 people as the maximum just in case. I'm looking to spend around $300. I'm looking at something small that won't eat up a ton of power, that can be accessed from the internet privately mind you, but is running 24/7 so any of my friend can get on whenever they want. I'm looking at running games like ark, and conan exiles on it. I've built my own PC, upgraded it twice and switch back and forth from AMD to intel. I'm not sure how to go about building a small gaming server hardware or software. It's new and exciting but I need some help. If you could recommend a build guide, or point me in the right direct I'd appreciate it.

Were you planning on using Windows or Linux? If Windows, the only way to get a box close to 300 would be to buy a used Dell -- http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/
