Home Internet (wireless and wired connections) randomly crash

My home internet connection randomly crashes for the entire network from anywhere between 1-5 minutes at a time about every 1-2 hours, why is this?

Would look at the modem and the router. If you plug directly into the modem, does the issue persist? What do you need to reboot to get it working again?
