Home made pcie "SSD"s?

Hello, I have recently seen many pcie to usb cards, and I was wondering if you had a raid configuration for these usb drives if you could install an os on it? The cards I'm talking about are like this.

Those usb ports are seen as any other usb port. They are separate and external devices so you can't install windows on it or raid.
