Hello,
I am trying to connect to my wifi network from a windows 7 home HP desktop. It shows couple of other wifi networks on the list, but not my home network. Other devices are connected to my wifi. I have a netgear r6400 router. Tried uninstalling/updating driver and adapter..didnt help. Also tried resetting/powercycling the router/modem. Can someone please help me out. Many thanks

Is your wifi set to broadcast its ssid (its wifi name)? Also is your network on 2.4ghz or 5ghz or both? If you compare what networks your HP Desktop Can see compared to say your phone, how many more can your phone see compared to the desktop. How did you manage to update your wifi adapter without being connected to the internet?

Thank you for your reply. The SSID is set to broadcast. I have both 2.4 and 5 ghz operating networks. My HP is connected via ethernet so I could update. I used wifi analyzer on my phone and it picks up many more than my desktop. Tried to play with the settings but not getting anywhere.

Lets try to manually connect to it since your not able to just select it from your list of wifi.

Open up the network and sharing center, on the upper left hand side you should see manage wireless networks.
Select Manage wireless networks
click add.
Type in your ssid and pw, and other settings
See if it allows you to connect, if it doesn't let me know what error you receive.

I added it manually but it does not give me the option to connect and it still does not show up in the list of available networks. I am not sure if I am allowed to add a screenshot on this forum.
