I recently purchased a home that is wired with a home network. I have comcast high speed internet and I'm trying to setup the house so that each room is wired as well as set up a wireless router. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this. My modem is in a bedroom upstairs in a closet. My ideal situation is (what I thought would work) have the modem go to the switch along with all the ethernet cables for each room. From the game room ethernet port connect my wireless router. I've tried to set up the modem to router to wireless router but the wireless worked and not the rest of the house. Can somebody help me in detail understand how to set up my network? Thanks!

Are all the devices going to be in the closet ? Modem , router , wireless router and network switch ?

From the modem connect the wireless oruter and then from the wireless router connect the router on one port and the network switch on another port.
Your wireless router wants to be the main source of the netrwork so that you can select a network security key that will be for all the devices.

I would prefer that the wireless router was in the game room, it is upstairs and more central. I would like to be able to connect the wireless router to the ethernet port in the game room. I have two routers and a switch I can use to set this network up. So to answer your question no. The only the modem and the wired router/switch are in the closet. (At least thats how I want it to be ideally, not sure if thats possible).
