I recently moved into a newly built home. The house is wired with cat6 in the walls and there is a switch already installed in a box in my wall. The modem is installed in the same box. I have 1 spot in the house that I would like to have multiple components (TV, Apple TV, PS4) hardwired to the network. Do I install another switch from this wall port? I am a complete newbie when i comes to home networks.

Yes, just add a small 5 port gigabit switch in the room you need conectivity.
