Home Network username id?

Hello,
I am kind of new to trying to create a home network. I am trying to share certain folders from my pc to my laptop. When I tried accessing the network drive, the computer is asked for a user id, and password. I set up the password, but I dont know what my user id is, how can I find that? Please help, thanks

The username and password are the username and password for your desktop since you are trying to access files on the desktop. You can have your laptop save the username and password for future access.

If your laptop is trying to connect with it's own username, then you need to select "use different credentials".

Or add another user to your desktop and use the laptop username and password
