At first I was going to "soup up" my 6 year old HP 775 socket machine, by loading a copy of windows 7 on it and replacing the processor with a e8400.
I ordered the power supply, and a 240 gig SSD to help it.
But I have this nagging feeling that the board may not last too much longer. I already had to add a video card to it, something failed with the onboard video. The e8400 I just bought on ebay is on the way. It was about $30 delivered, money down the drain I think.
I will reuse the case and optical drives, and replace the guts with this:

As I mentioned the power supply and SSD are on their way.
I never play video games. I will use the onboard video or the crappy geforce 8400 1 gig video card. I say crappy, it is the low point in the windows experience index at 3.5. I have a feeling the onboard video will be better?
Too much RAM? I figure for video editing, it may come in handy.
Any comments welcome!
