Home pvr

Anyone use a family PC for a home pvr with a tv tuner card? The one difference I am running into is: I just want to record HD and only play it back on my TV, not the computer.

Any suggustions?

If you are on cable (you need a cable card, maybe next year) or satellite, don't bother. HD requires a set top box and it outputs only one usable channel. You cannot tune channels on your PC - you can only record what you're watching, which has very little value. (If your cable company is different, it won't be for long.)

If you are using an antenna, get a TIVO. Costs less, does far more.
