Home server build. which cpu and mobo combo

I would like to build a home server running ESXi, freenas with plex. Mainly for media home server but running some additional VM. What CPU and mobo would best. Low power consumption and with a budget of under 175.00. Less would be better.

This is front of the line -

AMD FX8320 - 104.00
ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 - 56.00

kanewolf is correct about the RAM because swapping is really bad for VM's performance. In addition to the CPU and motherboard, you also need an inexpensive video card and you'll either have to get the Realtek NIC working or buy one that's supported out of the box: http://www.tinkertry.com/install-esxi-5-5-with-realtek-8111-or-8168-nic/
