I'm setting up a small home network. The main segment of the network will be wired into 1Gb Ethernet network (to speed up communications with the file server). Specifically, I'll have 2 PCs, file server and network printer all connected to a 1Gb hub. This hub used to be connected to the broadband modem/router using a cable.

Due to the changed house layout, I would like to get rid of this cable. Since the modem/router also supports wifi, I thought that it would be nice to simply connect my hub to a wifi range extender. Would this do the trick or do I need to do something more sophisticated? Will my wireless devices be able to access the wired network in this case? Could you perhaps recommend a specific model of an extender?
