Hi all

Im UK based and recenetly moved into a 2006 built property.

At the time of building this housing estate, all the properties were installed with cat 5 and an unknown wire (see description below ) to each and every room in the house. Im hoping to make use of the larger wiring thinking it maybe 6a or equivalent but
A} im not sure exactely what it is and
B} what do i need to terminate the wires when we do and would you suggest a switch and/or patch panel?

The wires are marked

“LEXCOM HOME COMM.CABLE PIMF 4X2XAWG23 LSFOH C(UL US E231403 CM D2405”

They are solid copper

And are paired :

brown/blue
grey/orange
red/black
yellow/green

Each pair is shielded with foil and the 4 pairs are wraped in mesh with the outer insulation. They have no inner

Thanks very much

Solution
Great brand as that's Schneider Electric. Sounds like a nice wire with different colors as mentioned previously.

You will need to identify the wire itself and make sure it will fit the termination you want. Personally I would go with keystones in the jacks in the rooms and maybe even the demarc room unless you have a lot of runs and want a patch panel. Any unmanaged gigabit switch will do unless you want managed functions. Keep in mind that your mesh devices will probably need to run in access point mode and you will need to use your isps router for routing or you will have 2x separate networks that won't be able to talk to each other since most mesh devices are designed to be the router and are designed to be 'bandaids' for people...
From what i can tell it sounds to be CAT 6 wire, just has different colors then the standard network cable.

What you would have to do is strip the cable back and then buy normal cat 6 cable and match the twists on the pairs between the two. once you figure out the color code between what you have and a normal cable you could then wire up plugs to it.

Thankyou, well that points me in right direction
