Homebuild won't post, won't beep

Hi All,
I purchased a new build "bundle" consisting of:
Asus M5A78L-M LX Plus socket AM3+ m/b
AMD Phenom II X4 945
Kingston 4GB 1600 M 9-9-9 DDR x2
Seagate 1tb serial ata hd
using integrated video vga

no posts, no beeps
followed the troubleshooting steps on this forum, no luck so far

re-seated CPU
re-seated mem
removed mem
re-checked wiring
started m/b and hd outside the case
still no post or beeps

called Asus customer support; the tech person suggested I send the m/b back to the retailer

I was wondering if there a way I can detect whether or not its a m/b issue?
maybe bad CPU, mem?

You help would be greatly appreciated

Hi, have you attached a case speaker to the motherboard? If yes, try starting the board having only the CPU and CPU fan installed. Is the CPU fan spinning when starting?

Okay. Case speaker connected. Only CPU/fan. CPU fan is spinning. No beeps.

Then I would check the CPU for bent pins. If no bent pins, then it's either a motherboard or a CPU issue.

I looked again more carefully. There is one bent pin. Thanks
