Recently built a new system, and it has been nothing but a headache so far. The cpu fan would not start, so I switched the cable to the system fan spot on the motherboard, same problem. At this point in my build, I already had just about everything hooked up, it did not POST either. I went to the basics and hooked up the CPU, RAM, and motherboard. I had the same result.
I do not believe it was a power problem, when I had everything hooked up, all my other fans in the case worked fine, the the video card was working (in theory anyway), same with DVD reader and hard drive. I also tested another CPU fan I had lying around and had the same result. I figured since I was having issues with both the CPU fan slot, and the system fan slot, that it was a motherboard problem. I sent it back to newegg, and they sent me a replacement which arrived today.
Now, I am having the exact same problem. I want to cover all my bases, cause it took them two weeks to get the replacement out here, and its 12 bucks to ship either item back, which is just insult to injury. Would a non working CPU cause a working motherboard's system fan to not work? How likely is it I just got two motherboards with the exact same problem? Could any of the other components have caused it? Anything that I am not asking, that I should be? Thanks much~
