My son built a system around an AMD A8 7650K, MSI A88X-G45 motherboard, 8G of RAM, 1TB drive, a gazillion fans and 600w power supply. Counter Strike (Steam) doesn't work. He can get to the main page, but the game won't load. He can surf the web, so connectivity is not the issue.

Is there a component(s) that need to be changed?

What do you mean by getting to the main page? You mean the place on the counter strike home where the rank is displayed?

In the mean time try...
1. Updating All Drivers
2. Search on google specifically about your CPU maybe others with the same CPU have encountered the same problem and know how to fix it.

Counter Strike is not a very graphically intensive game but it does use the CPU's powers a lot so perhaps get CPUZ, Aida64, HW Monitor all these programs to make sure your computer is running properly to do a quick checkup if all the components are working together well.

Other than that it is really hard to help you out 🙁

Good Luck 😉
